The Kills – Blood Pressures (Album Review)

Ok – another album that’s been out a while, but after listening to it solidly since release a couple of months back we had to review it for all who’ve never heard it…

Ever since we discovered them we’ve had a particular affection for The Kills. The band have always managed to release strong and inventive rock albums without ever crossing to the mainstream as is done by oh so many bands such as Kings of Leon. Even if it is likely that guitarist Jamie Hince’s relationship with Kate Moss has put some added spotlights on the duo they still maintain the same intimate and discreet band aesthetic that they had before fame came knocking.

Often compared to the White Stripes, largely because of their bluesy punk style and boy/girl dynamic, Jamie and Alison are definitely close to the talent of  Meg and Jack. This is their first album since Alison joined Jack in The Dead Weather and now The Kills are back with a new album that wholly meets expectations. Never has the duo been so loud, so controlled, so good at embodying the meaning of a ‘tandem‘, and this album is a masterpiece!

Branching Out

After recently taking on totally new projects in shopfitting and restaurant branding, we’ve now branched into signwriting for the new restaurant. The interior is starting to take shape and a big launch party is planned for the start of August. A full release will be going out prior to launch, when we will unveil the name, design and the man behind the venture. For now, here’s some of our painted handywork.
