New Stoats Sports

We’ve been working with Porridge bars manufacturer Stoats to develop the branding and packaging for its new Stoats Sport range.

The products are specifically formulated for a pre exercise boost and post workout recovery. Our design is clean and demonstrates sports performance, while suggesting that the product is more of a natural, healthy option than a lot of similar products. We’ve also developed advertising and point of sale merchandising material for the launch this month.

We’re now working on a refresh of all Stoats porridge bar packaging, so check back soon to find out more!

Crumbs!

Following a feature on BBC breakfast this morning about the boom of speciality biscuits, we realised that the new Thorntons ‘ Toffee & Milk Chocolate’ Cookies have hit the shelves, in the pack we designed and art directed.

Oh my God they’re good! Head down to your local Thorntons store or supermarket to give them a try.

Beaming With Flavour

We were recently appointed to redesign the branding and packaging for Beanies flavour coffee.

Beanies is a unique product, due to the fact that the flavour is actually locked in with the coffee. Available across seven flavours in ground filter and instant form, the makers are convinced that this convenient, zero calorie, medium roast coffee will become a huge hit with more adventurous coffee drinkers of all ages. The rebrand is to coincide with a relaunch of Beanies, ahead of its appearance in major national retailers. The company is also launching a variety of flavour coffee instant stick packs targeting trade and hospitality.

We have created more brand impact, by simplifying the previous logo, while retaining the personality and movement of the font. The packaging has a raw textured card finish in a natural dark brown, to show that the brand is serious about its coffee, with the branding and key product descriptor applied in a white foil finish for stand out. The bean that was incorporated in the previous design has been rounded to become more iconic and we used as a die-cut window on the filter packs to expose the flavour variant colour of the internal box beneath. The whole finish and experience has become more tactile and premium, while clearly indicating that although serious about its product, the brand is full of fun.

We also introduced the strapline, “The Flavour Co.” to position the brand as a master within flavour produce and open the opportunity of future product categories and some exciting NPD ideas.

We’re now working with the brand on its corporate website and advertising strategy and we’re excited about what the future holds for this young brand.

Myprotein Pouches Have Arrived!

It’s been a long wait, as we completed the artwork a year ago, but the new Myprotein Pouches have finally landed and the wait has been worthwhile. Myprotein are the largest online supplier of protein powders and supplements in the UK and have now branched into retail with the new market leading pouches we designed.

There are 27 different product pouches across four ranges. We rebranded the ‘Essentials’ range as ‘Core’, in a simple white and blue pouch and chose a reflective metallic stock for the MP Max premium ranges. These include MP Max, Max Elle and Max Elite, which are clearly defined by category colours.

While working on the project we also suggested changing the company strapline from ‘The Home of Sports Nutrition’ to ‘Fuel Your Ambition’, which is far more emotive and lifestyle orientated, so better suited the wide product group, which includes diet supplements.

Wine That Rocks

Now, here’s a couple of wines worthy of a Christmas smash up!

AC/DC has partnered up with Woolworths in Australia for initial domestic distribution of a few wines. Now, with your turkey dinner you can have Hells Bells Sauvignon Blanc or make mulled wine from a Cab Sauvignon that will shake you all night long.

New MyProtein Pouches

Here are the new MyProtein MP Max pouches that we designed. They are available for order direct from MyProtein now and soon to follow will be MP Max Elle, Elite and the MP Core range, which we renamed (previously ‘Essentials’).

The aim of the design is to appear more innovative and scientific, as more people buy into sports nutrition products. We simplified the existing branding, introducing new fonts and symbols. The packs are easy to read with key messaging to suggest number of portions etc. We also suggested the new company strap-line, “Fuel Your Ambition”, which is direct and emotive and can be applied to weight loss products and health suppliments, as well as protein powders.

Choccie Dodgers Minis Hit The Shelves!

Today we received an MMS from a friend of Robot-food, showing new Choccie Dodgers Minis on shelf in the supermarket. Of course we sent the tea boy straight out to ASDA and here’s how they look.

Sustain Soap

Here’s some amazing concept work by Artist Network collaborator Simon Inman. It’s an NPD idea for soap made from 100% RSPO certified sustainable palm oil. “The design would not only stand out on shelf, but also inform and educate the consumer.

In Indonesia and Malaysia, over thirty square miles of wildlife-rich forest are being felled daily to make way for palm oil plantations. With such a devastating impact on animal habitats, many endangered species such as tigers, orangutans and even lizards are now on the verge of extinction.”

After researching the market, a simple texture based illustration style was developed for three different bars. Simon created a character for each bar based on animal species in danger of becoming extinct from unsustainable palm oil production. Creative copy gave each animal real personality and also highlighted their plight.

It may only be a little bar of soap, but using products that contain unsustainable palm oil has serious consequences for our planet. As the strapline says ‘Wash your hands of unsustainable palm oil’, you’ll not only have clean hands, but also a cleaner conscience.”

Keep up the great work Si!

Double Trouble!

We’ve just picked up a pack of Jammie Dodgers ‘Jam ‘n Custard’ and we’re really pleased with how it’s come out… Proper retro!

Mike’s Paxo Pack

We took an outing to London today in aid of research and visited The Museum of Brands & Packaging in Notting Hill while there. They have some brilliant examples of how different brand’s packaging has evolved over the years and Mike was stoked to see his 2005 design of Paxo stuffing on display. If you want to revel in it’s marvel, check it out when next in the supermarket as it’s still on the shelves six years on.
