Even More Style At Ella Georgia

Here’s our rebrand of Ella Georgia – A retail website and shop, selling ethical jewellery, homeware, clothing and bath and body products.

We developed the strap-line ‘Style with heart’, and added personality with a hand drawn font and an ownable, bohemian pattern, illustrated in-house.

The new look suits the proposition perfectly and we’re now working with Ella Georgia to develop luxury packaging, branded materials and wrapping paper.

The York Roast Co. Now Open For Business

Yesterday saw the opening of the first newly branded restaurant for The York Roast Co. in Chester. The primarily take away style business, which also trades from two sites in York was previously ‘York Hogroast’ and the Chester site is the first to incorporate a seating area.

We’ve designed the new Chester shop, as a template for the brand and the concept will be fine tuned across the two York restaurants, before rolling out in many other towns.

The York Roast Co. serves the finest hand carved meat sandwiches, drawing people in from the street with the mouth-watering theatre of the carvery display in the window.

As well as designing the new branding and interior, we managed the build and designed the finishing touches, such as POS, uniforms and packaging. We also developed the menu product offering with a food stylist and chef from our close network. Together we created the new ‘Beastly’ sandwich specials and introduced new items such as filled Yorkshire puddings and marinated pork ribs. We also complimented the offering, suggesting freshly ground coffee by Taylors of Harrogate and traditional drinks by Fentimans.

The identity is a blend of traditional and contemporary, mixing a butcher shop feel with the fast paced appeal of a New York deli. The takeaway counter is black granite, faced in reclaimed scaffold boards, with a backdrop of white subway tiling and black grout. The reclaimed scaffold boards reappear in the seating area as tabletops sat on bespoke, raw steel frames, with industrial red pendant lamps hanging above. The floor of the restaurant is tiled in a black and white check, which is mimicked in the check chef’s trousers worn by the staff. The colour palette mixes heritage black, with gold and white, for an old York feel in a contemporary setting and the logo illustration was created by Jono Wood from the Robot Food Artist Network.

The York Roast Co. Director Wayne Chadwick said, “We’re absolutely delighted with the feel of the place. Robot Food have transformed our business, considering every detail to create a brand to rival the best independent restaurant chains.”

Wow, Well Done Morrisons!

We’ve just been to Harrogate Morrisons for some research, to find it’s undergone a full redesign. The style of the store follows the Leeds, Kirkstall flagship/trial store, but not only has the concept not been diluted, it’s actually been improved.

The ‘Market Fresh’ area is open and bright, with informative point of sale, in a farm fresh feel, but it’s the variety of fresh produce that really amazes. Each of the counters are clearly separated by clean signage, with fun tone of voice injected and the whole store has been stripped of cluttered point of sale, so product stands out.

The new store layout, together with effective M brand range overhals and leading NPD will surely mean trouble for the other major three, as it’s rolled out nationally.

JP Bar Opens For Business

JP bar opened its doors on Otley road in Headingley, Leeds today and is a new take away restaurant offering the finest, great value jacket potatoes and sandwiches. With a selection of house favorites, a choice of breads and twice baked potatoes, the menu has something to offer everyone. The produce is fresh, with a choice of additional toppings and daily made sauces to make taste buds tingle.

We created the identity, together with menus, signage, point of sale material, packaging, uniforms and advertising. The look is fresh and bold in a three-colour palette consisting of vibrant green, old white and dark grey. The design is heavy on typography and punchy communication aimed heavily at the young professional and student population that the shop should attract in its first Headingly location. Examples of this include coffee cups that say “So hot right now!” and a variety of uniform T-shirt prints such as “Super Fresh – Boom!” Key communication is combined with appetising food photography, that we art directed.

“It’s only day one, but the business has big plans for expansion and the forward thinking design that Robot-food have given us really arms us for success”, said Manager Atif Dar.

Following the launch, we are now working on the corporate website.

Launch Party

Last night we celebrated at the opening party for Shade Station in Victoria Quarter, Leeds. The red carpet was crammed with the retailers friends, colleagues and public and while champagne flowed, people chatted and purchased. We received plenty of positive comments regarding the store design and it was great to see the new Oakley shop-in-a-shop followed our theme! Their custom kiosk is the second of it’s kind in the world and will be the only one in the UK, which is bound to pull the crowds for Shade Station.

Shade Station Opens

We went to Leeds yesterday to check out Shade Station’s flagship store, in the Prestigious Victoria Quarter (also home to Harvey Nichols).

Shade Station is one of the leading retailers of sunglasses and accessories in the UK, with a massive online presence. The new location is the company’s flagship store and we were appointed in May to create a remarkable environment, unique in sunglass retail, which would fit the glamour and sophistication of the Victoria Quarter.

Doors opened for business on Saturday and for a lot of the brands the company stocks; the two-floor store will exhibit their biggest retail selection in the UK. Brands include Ray-Ban, Oakley, Chanel, Gucci, Dior, D&G, Tom Ford and many more.

We were responsible for the design of every detail, from the cabinets, to stud walling, lighting, POS and even a grand directors desk, that is the focus of a new customer consultation service. We also suggested iPads for staff to carry, so that customers can show products that they have been viewing online and convinced the company to move from PC’s to iMacs to manage the till systems in order to aid aesthetics.

The look, feel and experience are all new in the world of sunglasses and accessory retail and the store is performing well.

The official launch is on Thursday from 6 – 8pm, when doors will be open to all and there will be 10% off all stock. Shop management and our team will there to celebrate its future success!

Victus Restaurant Launch

In the heart of Harrogate, Victus Restaurant opened its doors to the public for the first time today and we were there to celebrate!

Formula 1 World Champion, Jenson Button, is one of the founders and he came to cut the ribbon, pour coffee and mingle. Over 250 people queued outside to catch a glimpse of JB and following the launch he took time to say hello and sign autographs.

Pictured Above – Jenson with a winning team!

Victus was founded, designed, built and is operated by a dynamic team of people who all share a love for fresh, quality and generally tasty food from around the world.

Simply put, Victus stands for “Love – Life – Food”. Whether it’s breakfast for porridge, fresh coffee and a paper, a lunchtime reprieve from the office, or after a long day and you’re sharing their soon to be famous meatball sliders with friends for dinner; The food, staff, look and feel of Victus provides the perfect atmosphere and choice for you to enjoy every moment.

Following two years of planning and five months of renovation Victus has been brought to life. The interior is stylish and eclectic, including a colorful mix of furniture and industrial lighting.

We were appointed earlier this year, to design the identity and worked closely with the team to develop and compliment this style.

The branding is bold, but also artistic with a bohemian feel. The logo is offered in five colours, adding variation to various applications from signage to packaging. It also comes in a couple forms, stripped back to just the typeface for the main exterior signage, with a holding device and backdrop illustration added for other applications. The brand illustration was created by Robot-food Artist Network illustrator, Jono Wood (pictured below) and has been used to create bespoke wallpaper inside the restaurant.

We added branded tone of voice and icons to develop the identity and applied this across signage, point of sale, menus and uniforms. We also hand painted branded signage to the internal walls of the restaurant. Please go to ‘Portfolio’ to view a case study of the work.

Victus is open 7 days a week from 7am-11pm Monday to Saturday and 9am-11pm on Sundays, so see you down there!

Coming Along Nicely

We’ve been in Leeds today, to see how our shop-fitters are getting on with the flagship store we’ve designed for Shade Station. We are delighted and a little releived to say that our partners at Bright Green are doing a fantastic job, making our vision come alive. The stud walling is in, papered and painted with new flooring down and lighting installed. The bespoke sunglass cabinets and furniture are all being brought to site and the build quality and finish is second to none.

The store will be finished in the next week, allowing a couple of weeks for stocking and trade before an opening evening between 6-8pm on Thursday the 22nd. If you’re in Leeds then, pop down for a glass of bubbly!

Restaurant Teaser

It’s a pretty monumental day as the external signage for the first restaurant in the new chain we have branded is being put up today. We will soon post the full branding across, signage, packaging, POS, uniforms and the website, however no press releases have yet been sent out showing the branding.
