Dodgers | Brand Framework, Rebrand & NPD

Burton's Foods asked us to redesign the nation's favourite Jammie Dodgers.
We created an entirely new brand framework to coincide with one of the biggest NPD initiatives of 2011, with the launch of new toffee and chocolate products.

To draw on nostalgia, we retained the original 'Dodgers' font, derived from The Beano's 'Rodger The Dodger' comic strip. We added a 'heart' to the 'O' to hero the heart of the product and changed the logo font to a subtle, retro cream colour for consistency.

For the packs, we chose a vivid, retro sunburst as a backdrop, which allowed for bold variant differentiation. We also added product variant photography in an old-school storybook style. A life size product shot now precedes the logos and we added cheeky marker pen style graffiti to hero the heart of the product with ‘Everyone Loves’. This marker pen appears as a variant strap line such as ‘Jamtastic’, ‘Makes a proper mess!’ and ‘Get stuck in!’ - which was chosen as the brand strapline for advertising.

Our redesign of Minis allowed for the introduction of new Choccie Dodgers Minis. The bag is vibrant and communicates to parents that there are six snack packs inside.

We created bold sub branding for the core family extensions. We chose the title 'Mini Bites' to replace 'Snack Bites' and retained much of the core themes in the design of the pack. We also expressed more of a grown-up, sharing occasion in the design and tone of voice.
