Shade Station is the leading independent retailer of sunglasses and accessories in the UK. The new location is the company’s flagship store and we were appointed to create a remarkable environment, unique in sunglasses retail, which would fit the glamour and sophistication of the Victoria Quarter, in Leeds (also home to Harvey Nichols).

We were responsible for the design of every detail, from the cabinets, to stud walling, lighting, POS and a grand directors desk, that is the focus of a new customer consultation service. We also suggested iPads for staff to carry, so that customers can show products that they have been viewing online. We also convinced the company to move from PC’s to iMacs to manage the till systems in order to aid aesthetics.

The starting point was to design versatile wall and freestanding cabinet units that could be used to showcase both sunglasses and accessories. We then created floorplans to maximise cabinet space, interior flow and position, lighting, electrics and finishing touches.

The 1st floor is a really focused environment that showcases Ray-Ban, Oakley and sports brands. Oakley developed their own 'Custom Kiosk', which fits with our cabinet design.
