Ride on Nelly

This past weekend, Simon, Martin, MJ and Chris put pedals to the metal, cycling 50 miles and raising over £1000 for charity in ‘Nelson’s Tour de Test Valley’ cycle sportive in Grateley, Hampshire.

Now in its 5th year, the annual event held in partnership with CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) aims to raise awareness and vital funds to assist in the prevention of male suicide in the UK. With 100% of the proceeds dedicated to CALM and over £200,000 raised to date, the Test Valley tour is a fitting tribute to fallen friend Nelson ‘Nelly’ Pratt, pro snowboarder and bike enthusiast, who tragically took his own life in 2012.

A massive thanks goes out to Marcus, Nelson’s parents, brother Chris and all at CALM for hosting such a fantastic event, and bringing so many friends together to remember Nelly.

Thank you to all of our team, family and friends who pitched in to raise over £500, which Robot Food have matched.

Suicide is the single biggest killer amongst males under 45 in the UK, with men three times more likely to take their own life than women. By raising money and awareness for charities like CALM, it not only provides support for those suffering alone but helps in breaking the stigma surrounding depression as well.
