Strategy isn’t a process — it’s a puzzle

We’re an agency known for redefining the rules — but surely strategy follows the same playbook everywhere? We sat down with our Creative Strategist and trend-hunting extraordinaire Chloe, to reveal how Robot Food flips the script, challenges conventions, and builds bold, unforgettable brands.

Strategy is often mistaken for a rigid, data-driven formula, a series of steps leading to a predetermined outcome. But we see it differently. It’s not about following a process; it’s about solving a puzzle. The right pieces alone aren’t enough. You need to know how to put them together in a way that reveals the bigger picture.

A strategist by any other name…

Brand strategist. Content strategist. Communications strategist. Tart it up however you like, but at the core, our job is the same: solving problems. We bridge the gap between what a brand says and does and what its audience truly cares about. That bit in the middle — that’s where strategy lives.

Workshop or therapy session?

If you’ve ever been in one of our stakeholder sessions, you’ll know we sometimes joke that it feels like therapy. And honestly? There’s truth to that. We’re not here to talk at you and throw around buzzwords, we’re here to listen. Our sessions are designed to unlock insights with clients, not just for them. They’ve got the answers, we just need to ask the right questions.

No jargon. No BS. Just clarity.

We don’t hide behind complicated frameworks or unnecessary fluff. Strategy isn’t about ticking boxes – it’s about cutting through the noise to find what truly matters for a brand.

Take brand archetypes, for example. You might say you’re a hero, a jester AND an everyman but try to be everything to everybody and it’ll mean nothing to nobody. A good strategist will bring their own personal insights and experiences to the table, helping you carve out a distinct personality that feels right for your brand and resonates with real people.

Positioning is your DNA

Not a 100-page document collecting dust on a shelf. It’s a living, breathing part of your brand – something that should grow and evolve as your business does. It’s not a static set of rules; it’s the foundation of all creative thinking, the spark behind every great idea.

Sometimes strategy will feel like a quick brainteaser. Other times it’s more like a 1000 piece puzzle where the last bit you need is hidden between the sofa cushions. The answers don’t always come easy, but it’s worth doing the digging to get to the bigger picture.
